WOKING SHOW DECEMBER 9TH

Debbie Willmott fought her 1st 5 round fight against a very strong girl from Red Dragons Gym, London and despite scoring well with good techniques the taller London girl got the measure of Deb and used good technique especially Teep to clinch the victory by a majority verdict. This was a big step up for Deb in her 2nd ever fight against a girl with a lot more Amateur experience and Deb showed great skills and power beyond her 10 months Muay Thai training.

Joey Brincat fought the 59KG ranked number 1 - Marc Brown of Lumpini Gym Crawley and despite the fact that he gave away well over 40 fights experience to the 4kg heavier man, Joey gave Brown more than a few problems in this exciting 5 rounder, Joey scoring well with punches and kicks and Brown using his extra weight and strength in the clinch. Joey lost the fight on pts but earnt a lot of respect from the Muay Thai camps present and also Marc who is a really nice guy, taking this fight with only 9 fights under his belt all credit to Joey who has been working hard all year giving away weight and experience even when he fought in Thailand.

Joey will be fighting at 55-57kg max during 2008 and looking for some fights.

Will Riva fought Dillion White of Brixtons, Red Dragons camp for the British Superheavyweight title and showed why he is really a Heavyweight or Cruiserweight as Dillion showed some excellent Muay Thai technique coupled with great power using his 15kg weight advantage to full effect dominating this fight and taking Wills punches to score a well deserved 3rd rd knockout using knee to the head of Will.

This was a major blow for Will who has been working hard all year to get fights, Lee has been pushing and pushing but on the day it wasnt us that came out on top. A great win for Dillion as Will has fought some good K1 fighters such as Hamada whilst in Japan. A dissapointment for Will who will come back and fight again during 2008

Eagles Show Dec 1st

Rise of the Dragons 1

Welsh title win for Matt Sheedy

This was our 2nd Show this year and we had a load of last minute pull outs etc, the venue was Llantrisant Leisure Centre and proved to be a great place for a show.

the 1st fight was a cracking jr bout between Kerion Farriday Eagles Barry and Tom Peek of Impact Swansea both boys giving their all but Kerion clinched the victory after 3 hard rounds.

Nicky Isherwood did a demo with Jason Ude in the 2nd bout after last minute pull outs, both Eagles boys stepped up to the mark.

Brendan Lyons gave solid performance in the Superheavyweight category getting a draw v the super strong Pawel of Bradford MT.

Great perfomances came from Marc Crowley (Eagles) who dominated his fight yet got a loss against Klayton West of Swansea's Impact Thai Boxing Gym, as did Gobind Singh who again dominated his fight against Lee Jeffcott (Phraya Pichai Birmingham) but didnt get the nod from the judges.

Lee German (Eagles) lost in a tough fight against Iestyn Thomas from Impact Swansea but showed some great power with his punches rocking the Swansea boy in the final round.

Chris Richards (Eagles) fought well against the powerfully built Mobasha from Bradfford Muuy Thai who proved to strong for Chris despite all Chris's efforts and use of some wacky kicks!!!!

We had a let down on the day for Caroline Thoams of Barry who's opponent didnt turn up on the day due to flu! Caroline had trained hard for a 5 round fight and was dissapointed to say the least. and again for Rob Churches whose opponent pulled out the day before, letting Rob down and despite some last minute calls we couldnt get him matched prioperly, sorry Rob!

Matt Sheedy fought Tony Lee (Phraya Pichai) for the Welsh 65KG title and showed why he is a worthy champion using great Muay Thai against the power punching and kicking of Lee who also gave a great performance, Matt really came into his own in this fight and will be fighting B class all next year at 65kg! a great championship night in the end.

Thanks to all and congratulations to Matt Sheedy the new Welsh 65KG Chmapion

WILL RIVA GETS A LAST MINUTE FIGHT

WOLVERHAMPTON CIVIC HALL 30TH NOVEMBER

Will fought Karl Lewis of Bad Company Gym Leeds on a days notice and although Will  had more experience - Karl gave Will more than a few problems in the 1st Round, using knees and clinch to good effect, Will however was not hurt by these attacks and in the 2nd came back with a devastating right hand that knocked Karl out.

This was a fightr taken on a days notice and valuable to get some rust from Wills system.

Thanks to Paul Hennessy for the offer and also for Richard Smith and Karl of Bad Co for taking the fight.

ALL FIRED UP- PLYMOUTH SHOW NOVEMBER 3RD

Debbie Willmott made her Debut at 62kg v Stacey Campfiled of Wildkick Gym. unfortunately Debbie was unsuccesful, giving away height, weight and a last minute rule change to Low Kick and not Muay Thai proved too  uch af a challenge for her debut and despite a very good performance she lost on pts.

Marc Crowley in his debut beat Frank Peteryk of Saints Gym (82kg) in a good technical battle of Muay Thai skill, Marc proved to himself that he is a true warrior and made Lee proud.

Rob Churches (Eagles Rhondda) aslo in his 1st fight earned a draw against Steve Jones of Wildkick Plymouth (75kg), despite a knockdown and 10-8 score to Rob in rd 1, Rob only managed to get a draw in this bout? we were a bit disapointed but Rob dug deep and realised how he needs to plan a fight. a good performance for Rob who showed some real talent against a tough fighter.

Matt Sheedy beat Scott Gannon of Weymouth at 68 kg, in a very clinical and cool contest Matt dominated this fight for the 3 rounds, enjoying himself whilst he did so, he will go a long way with performances like this one against and experienced kickboxer.

A very good performance for all the Eagles fighters and an enjoyable day out too. the show was well organised and a lovely venue, thanks to Wildkick and Taurus Gyms for having us, and we look forward to next years shows.

RUMBLE IN THE RHONDDA 2- CAGE SHOW

Shaun Facey (Eagles Cardiff) fought Muay Thai rules in the cage on this show which was an MMA event promoted by Street Style Ju Jutsu.

The event showcased Semi Pro and Pro MMA fights as well as Shauns Muay Thai Fight against Paul Hopkins of Phraya Pichai Birmingham.

Shaun fought very well against the more experienced Hopkins and dominated every round of the fight with strong kicking in rounds 1, forcing a count from body kicks in round 2 and then clinched and knee'd his way to a unanimous win to finish round 3 very strongly and with loads of gas in the tank!!!

Much respect to Shaun who despite having lost all of his 3 other fights on very close split decisions takes his record to 1w 3l where a lot of other guys would have quit by now. Shaun is now taking a well earned break from fighting until the new year in order to spend time with his family.

EAGLES INTERCLUB OCTOBER 7TH

OCTOBER 7th 2007

EAGLES CARDIFF INTERCLUB AT UFC GYM CARDIFF

This was our first interclub in over 12 years and was well attended with 30 pre matched fights showcased with fighters from Eagles Barry, Eagles Cardiff, Eagles Rhondda, WPT Gym Swansea, Impact Swansea and Wild West Gym, Gilwern.

Refereed by Kru Lee there were 12 junior fights and 18 adult fights with fighters of all standards making a good day of it.

All the fighters and camps attending were a credit to themselves and their camps/instructors taking the interclub spirt well and showing excellent skills.

The fights were prematched with all instructors showing a good degree of trust in the matchmaking, this resulted in the fights being well matched with no fighter being outclassed or injured and everyone enjoying themselves especially Kru Lee who reffed without a break 30 fights with a huge smile on his face. The event started and finished on time, all fighters were ready at the correct time and the good attitude of all involved showed the watching public what a great sport Thai Boxing can be.

Another is planned for the end January 2007 at Cardiff unless one of the other Gyms wants to do one then we will support them and make ours earlier/later to suit each others needs.

This is how we should all work together in UK Muay Thai..........................................................................

Chok Dii to all who fought see you on the next Eagles show 1st December

JOEY FIGHTS FOR BRITISH TITLE

JOEY BRINCAT FIGHTS FOR BRITISH I.S.K.A. TITLE

SEPTEMBER 30TH

Eagles Cardiff fighter Joey Brincat 57kg took a fight on a weeks notice against the highly rated and ranked Paul Timmins from Wicker Camp in Sheffield - this was for the vacant I.S.K.A. BRITISH 57-59KG Title belt over 5x 3 minute rounds

The 1st round was typical Thai style with both fighters testing their range and power with single shots, Timmins coming in low and hard with leg kicks and strong boxing  and Joey countering with lead body kicks off the block.

RD 2 saw Timmins come out all guns blazing, catching joey off guard with a peach of a right hand that had Joey floored with legs like Bambi on ice - Joey listened to Lees' advice caught Timmins in the Clinch and returned with knees and clinching to see out the round and to clear his head.

Rds 3 4 and 5 saw Joey get stronger and stronger dominating the clinch and knee work and also pressurising with teeps and left leg body kicks. Joey was not quite with it as he was asking what round it was in each break and didnt believe Lee when he told him, then asking Debbie who was acting as corner and also asking some ringside officials or cameramen!!!!

It was an anxious wait for the decision at the end, Lee was convinced that Joey had won, Timmins raises his hands, Joey does the same, the judges saw it as a split decision win for Timmins who graciously came over raised Joeys hand, wai bowed to Joey and our corner before accepting the champions belt.

It was a very very close fight and a great experience for Joey in his first full 5 x 3 rd fight - we were happy with the decision and even Ajarn Mick Mullaney the trainer of Timmins offerred us an immediate rematch due to the closeness of the fight stating he thought Joey had done enough to win!!

Maybe Thai judging criteria would have had us winning but we enjoyed and were grateful to the promoters and I.S.K.A for the experience - on to the next fight for Joey -17th November  - Dublin - Gaelic title 58kg.

Also fighting on this show, again on a weeks notice was Shaun Facey - Eagles Cardiff 73-75kg who fought the excellent Ivan? from Firewalker gym in Wolverhampton. This was a step up in class for Shaun who rose to the occasion in the 1st round catching Ivan with a well timed shin to the side of Ivans head dropping Ivan and forcing an 8 count. However Shaun failed to listen to Lee's advice and rushed in wasting enegry and punches on the gloves of the Wolves fighter who hails from Bulgaria. Rd 2 saw Ivan showing Shaun resect at the start however he realised that Shaun was tiring and forced the pace with strong body kicks and clinching that weakend Shaun, Round 3 was much of the same with the Bulgarian getting stronger with every exchange throwing well timed kicks and punches that sapped the energy from the Eagles fighter, testament to Shaun who fought back bravely but took a loss on a split decision.

The Wolves fighter is a future Thai Boxing star at 73kg and it was a honour and experience for us to fight him on this show.

Swansea show 9th September

SWANSEA SHOW 9TH SEPTEMBER

This was promoted by Paul Wheel and saw some british titles, some 'A' Class fights and also Thai champions  Duwao v Simpburn matched!!!

Representing Eagles Wales were Mike 'Scouse' Ellis (Barry) who showed good skills before getting winded at the end of the 1st Round v his opponent from Paul Wheels WPT gym Swansea. Unable to continue the win eernt to the Swansea boy.

Also fighting was Aaron Parry (Eagles Rhondda 80kg) who fought the more experienced Paul Hopkins of Phraya Pichai camp, Birmingham.

Hopkins who is trained by Ben Bates came out strong in round 1 throwing strong boxing and low kicks that took Parry off his feet a number of times.

Round 2 saw Hopkins start with the same tactic, but Parry who listened to Kru Lee's advice, blocked some of the Low Kicks, came back firing punches and knees and also clinched to good effect tiring Hopkins out.

Round 3 saw Hopkins trying for the knockout but Parry held his composure and clinched and knee'd his way to victory forcing 2 counts by the referee Tony Myers before Hopkins was saved by the bell, a very good win for Aaron Parry in his first Thai Boxing fight.

There were a number of Title fights on including a Jr Anglo- Welsh title between George Wintle (Eagles Barry trained by Peter Stewart) and Jamie Sutton (Dean Whites) which was a stormer over 5 rds- the winner Jamie Sutton (pts) although both lads showed great skill above their years.

Welsh 57 kg title fight between Joey Brincat of Eagles Cardiff (Lee Power) and Sean Kennedy of Taz Gym North Wales (Eugene Valerio) a good battle over 5 rounds of B class Thai Boxing, this was a very good fight wih Joey taking a clear points victory with superior kicking and clinching prowess.

Other results were (not in fight order)-

TRAINING IN THAILAND

Kru Lee and Joey Brincat went to Pattaya Kombat Village to train at the Muay Thai Camp that is owned and run by Christian Daghio an Italian who has been World Champion previously and is still actively fighting within Thailand.

This camp was excellent and we were welcomed by Christian, the Thai Trainers, the Nak Muay (boxers) both Thai and Farang (foreigners).

The training was second to none, everything you would expect from an authentic training facility in Thailand and more.............. as there were only a few Nak Muay training/living there at the time we were often fortunate to have 1 sometimes 2 Thai trainers to take us through our paces as personal trainers,  these trainers would correct mistakes and also would practice clinching and spar with us. It was an honour to train alongside some of these guys who have been Lumpini Champions, WMC World Champions and are also actively fighting in Thailand and Europe.

The facilities were excellent with 3 rings, bags, thai pads, gloves, etc. there was a swimming pool and Sauna to relax in and also on site catering facilities and a fitness/weights gym for use of the boxers.

The Camp was home to a few European guys who lived and trained there every day and we were treated like part of one big family, and when training was done some took the short scooter ride or taxi into Pattaya City to enjoy everything Pattaya is famous for!!! (Food, Disco's, Bars, Beaches)

After 3 weeks training there including 1 week of Tonilitis Lee lost nearly 8 kilograms and Joey well he's still there until 10th August...........

Kru Lee would like to thank everyone at this camp for their friendship, professionalism and expertise especially Christian the Tank (man that guy is fit), Gabrielle (A-GO-GO), Fabien from Switzerland (hope you stick with Muay Thai when you return), The other Italians whose names Lee has forgotten (sorry) Ute, See, Poo and the other Thai Trainers, congratulations also go out to Chon who is Christians girlfriend she was fighting her first fight 2 days after Lee returned and won. Well done...

I forgot to mention Ryan who is Joeys mate, go on baldy live the dream.......................................

K STAR SHOW JUNE 16TH

Alun Haskins, Joey Brincat and Matt Sheedy represented Eagles Thai Boxing Wales at this sell out show which was expertly promoted by Steve Logan and K Star Thai Boxing.

All 3 lads gave excellent acounts of themselves with Alun 1st up but losing against TOPPS from KSTAR GYM.

Alun dropped Topps with a peach of a right hand in the 1st round and everyone thought that was the end of the fight but Topps managed to just beat the count and got back up to raptourous applause form his home fans. The 2nd Round was fairly even although the Lee thought that Alun had the best of it and the 3rd round was a real tear up with Topps winning with low kicks as Alun had broken the Tibia of his right leg and although getting kicked over from low kicks he got back up and fought to the end with this injury. An excellent fight with great skills, strength and determination shown by both boxers.

Next was Matt Sheedy who fought Darnish from K Star Gym, this was a very technical fight with both boxers using silky skills and powerful combinations, however Matts superior leg work and high kicking together with his dominance in the clinch proved to be the telling factor in this closely fought contest. Matt didnt come away unscathed though as he picked up a cut to his left eye brow which needed attention during the fight, Lee did some remedial work in the corner and Matt carreid on to win this fight. His reaction reference the cut " nice, chicks dig scars"

The final Eagles Fighter of the night was Joey Brincat who gave an excellent display against his experienced opponet from Carlisle, although Joey had a couple of Kilograms weight advantage his oponent was very dangerous throwing massive right hands and really powerful kicks, however Joey listened to Lee's advice of not getting involved in a brawl with the guy and won a very convincing points victory. Again though not coming away without damage he suffered a few broken ribs from his oppponents mighty kicks.

K Star show Royal Suite Birmingham 14th April 2007

This show, promoted by Steve Logan was attended by 3 Eagles Wales Fighters.

Alun Haskins who was matched at 74 kg, came in at 72 kg and whose opponent at 75.5kg pulled out at the weigh in over 1 fight more experience (Alun 2 fights - opponent 1 fight?) This was devastating for Alun who has been training hard but nontheless will be ready to fight on Dean Kendalls show in Southampton on May 6th.

Next up was Joey Brincat (57 kg) who after having his original opponent pull out 1 week prior to the event, took a fight at the last minute against a guy 3.5 kg heavier from the Corby Thai Boxing club.

Joey weathered the storm of the shorter stockier opponent throwing big old bombs to the head and body like a steam train, and used the clinch and knee to good effect. Joey also showed some silky skills with high kicking and a lovely placed Teep to the face which rocked his opponent. The fight took the form of opponent rushing in with big powerful puches and Joey clinching and kneeing to the body with power and precision together with some well placed high kicks earning Joey a points win in a fight that he desperately needed following a number of let downs.

Eagles Wales' Rachael Robinson came out next in a novice ladies fight at 47 kg against Amber from F's gym in Birmingham. Rachael had a very good 1st fight and after a nervous start in the 1st round which saw her getting bullied around the ring by Amber, she then landed with some good low kicks and punching combinations in the latter 2 rounds actually knocking her opponent down in rd 3. This knock down wasn't counted by the referee Tony Myers who did an excellent job and obviously saw that Amber wasnt seriously hurt. However Rachael lost on a points decision against a very strong and skilled opponent.

Rachael is also trained in Ju Jutsu and we will be looking to match Rachael on future shows at between 45- 48 kg at either Muay Thai, K1 or amauteur/semi Pro MMA. (*contact Lee for further details)

If anyone would like to match Joey Brincat at 56 - 59 kg  3 fights 2 win 1 loss either before or after our visit to Thailand late June/ early July please contact Lee on 07792204881.

Lee is going for 3 weeks and Joey is hoping to stay on to train and fight out there for a further month maybe 2.

CARDIFF KICKBOXING CLUB'S

RETURN OF THE DRAGONS SHOW

CARDIFF COAL EXCHANGE 3RD MARCH 2007

This show was attended by 5 Eagles Members with only a weeks notice after a last minute meeting with promoter's and friends Denzil Lawrence and Spiro Micallef.

George Wintle had a Junior Muay Thai match agaisnt a young lad from Paul Suttons gym. George gave an excellent dipslay and although accidently punching his opponent to the head and receiving warnings George won convincingly on Pts.

Next up was Nick Richardson fighting full contact rules against an opponent from Swansea, Nick dominated this fight from the off forcing counts in the 1st and 3rd Rounds with strong punching and hard kicks. Credit should go out to all the boys for fighting Full contact rules with pads, boots and no low kick, clinch or knees allowed.

Joey Brincat fought next against a youngster from Lincoln, unfortunatley this fight never got off to a start after Joey kicked the wind out of his opponent early in the 1st round forcing a stoppage.

Matt Sheedy fought next against a really tough fighter from Andy Morgans Port Talbot Gym. Matt started well with some excellent kicks and fast hand work which had him ahead on pts but the guy who was an ex pro boxer proved too strong with brutal punching power forcing a count in both rds and then causing Matt to retire on his stool at the start of the 3rd and final round with a broken nose. Matt who is only 18 has a bright future in this sport and again fought non Muay Thai rules which was frustrating for him as he wanted to use his knees and got uppercut punched every time!!

The Penultimate fight of the night saw Eagles Gym Cardiff's 92 kg fighter Will Riva fight another Powerhouse heavyweight from Swansea under full contact rules. This fight started badly for Will as the guy came at him like a steam train throwing power punches that rocked Wills head back forcing the referee to give 2 eight counts against Will in the 1st round. However at the rest and following a slap across the face from Lee together with a bit of mental composure, Will came back in the second round throwing a devastating right hand which pole axed his opponent knocking him unconscious and winning the fight. This was a powerful display and got some ring rust out of Wills system and at 11:45 pm on the night as well. Will is fighting in Japan during April then on Dean Kendalls Southhampton show the 6th of May. We will be looking for some Pro fights for Will after that date at K1 or Muay Thai rules if anyone is interested?

K STAR SHOW- THE ROYAL SUITE BIRMINGHAM

February 2007

Shaun Facey fought Nick from Diablo gym in a hard fought match which could have gone either way. Shaun took the fight at 81 kg and gave a good display, Nick outworked Shaun in the final Round giving him a well deserved victory.

Also fighting on this show was Nick Richardson who took the fight at 10 minutes notice stepping in to replace a missing fighter against Sam Perry. Unfortunately Nicks lack of preparation and him driving to this show proved costly as he wasnt mentally prepared and after taking a couple of counts in the 1st round was stopped by the sheer power of Perry.

Joey Brincat 57 KG was let down on this event by his opponent failing to show and although disapointed he carried on with his smiles at the celebrations later on in Cardiff.

SPARTAN SHOW JANUARY 2007 MANCHESTER

Kru Lee took Joey Brincat, Alun Haskins an Daniel Brooks to fight on this show promoted by Peter Feeley at the Pennine Lounge, Oldham.

All three of the boys had excellent displays of Muay Thai with Daniel doing a Demo after his opponent pulled out at last minute with injury. Alun had a real stormer against Ollie from York who was 3.5 kg heavier. It was a real battle and a close fight which could have gone either way. Unfortunately Alun didnt get the judges approval and lost a pts decision.

Joey had a real tear up against Kyle Greenwood from Bradford Thai Boxing club. It was a hard fought contest and although Joey gave away 3 kgs Kyle was stronger and forced an eight count in the 3rd round clinching the victory.

K star Interclub Janury 2007

This Interclub was attended by members of Eagles Wales Gyms namely Barry, Cardiff and Rhondda with 15 competitors of all ages giving some excellent displays of Muay Thai and fighting prowess. There were some hard fought bouts and everyone who entered came away with a smile and a trophy. The fighters enjoyed their day at Steve Logans K Star Gym and will be training for the future events. Lee then left Birmingham and travelled onto Manchester the same day to attend the Spartan Show the following day where Joey, Alun and Dan fought.

MASTER SKENS INTERCLUB 10TH DECEMBER 2007

Kru Lee took a bus of fighters and spectators to Manchester again in order to compete on Master Skens Interclub 10th December.

Only 5 competitors this time due to injury and work commitments of some of the other Eagles fighters.

12 year old James Gill (Rhondda) had a good fight dominating his opponent from Master Skens Camp with clean powerful techniques and some surprising knee and clinch work. James showed excellent composure andwill be a force to be reckoned with in future years.

Joey Brincat (Cardiff) again showed his skill and power against one of Master Skens assistant instructors, Joey was nervous going into this fight after reading all about his opponents successes and experience on the wall of Master Skens Gym. Lee however calmed Joey down and then after a bit of a flustered start Joey showed his skill, power and fitness in a good display of Muay Thai technique. All credit to Joey who wanted to fight 5 rounds and Lee will be trying to get him matched in the new year on some big shows.

Nathan Harries (Rhondda) who has a personal success story after nearly dying in December 2005 form an extreme strain of Glandular fever proved a very strong fighter dominating his fight with strong punching and low kicks. Nathan who weighed only 7 stone this time last year and was on a life support machine has built up his body and fitness over the last 12 months and with Kru Lee's help and guidance has proved that he may be a force to be reckoned with at 13 stone, a few more interclubs and some fine tuning in 2007 and Nathan may be a future champion.

Sean Facey (Cardiff) had one of the hardest Eagles fights of the day against his opponent from York who after the 1st Round got the measure of Sean and correctly used his clinching and kneeing to good effect. This was a good learning experience for Sean who immediatley asked for more training!! Sean has only been training for 4 months and was a credit to the Club showing a couple of good high kicks when under sustained pressure.

One of the last fighters of the whole day was Nick Richardson (Cardiff) who also had 2 fights - the first was a good showcase for Nick who showed some good skills and power against his skilled opponent. Nick then had a 20 minute rest and then had another fight against a highly skilled Master Sken fighter. Nick showed great spirit to even get in there a second time after giving it all in the 1st fight and even after damaging his shoulder in the 1st round he carried on to the end - a real warrior well done mate you got all of our respect.

A mention must also go out to Mad Mike Edwards from the Rhondda Clubs who has provided his take on the new Eagles formual for success. Mike says D + D = W. lol

(Dedication + Determination =  Warrior) and dont forget the H T 0. Mike you are a star and i can't wait till you are ready to fight in 2007.

K - STAR PROMOTION 18TH NOVEMBER 2006

KRU LEE TOOK BOTH ALUN HASKINS (RHONDDA) AND JOEY BRINCAT (CARDIFF) TO FIGHT ON THIS SHOW, PROMOTED BY STEVE LOGAN AT THE ROYAL SUITE, PERRY BARR BIRMINGHAM.

UNFORTUNATELY JOEY'S OPPONENT FAILED TO SHOW UP AND EVEN THOUGH WE OFFERED A NUMBER OF FIGHTERS WITH MORE EXPERIENCE AND/OR WIEGHT TO FIGHT WE WERE LET DOWN.

ALUN HASKINS HOWEVER, HAD A REAL STORMER OF A FIGHT, FIGHTING THE HIGHLY REGARDED ELLIOT SOUTH (SINGTO CAMBRIDGE).

SOUTH WHO WAS WELL INTO 6 FEET+ TOWERED OVER ALUN AT 5'7" AND SHOWED  GREAT HEART AFTER BEING KNOCKED DOWN FROM ALUNS DEVASTATING PUNCHES EARLY INTO THE 1ST ROUND. SOUTH GOT BACK UP AND CONTINUED AND DESPITE BEING KNOCKED DOWN 3 TIMES IN THIS 1ST ROUND HE GOT UP EACH TIME AND WAS WILLING TO CONTINUE. ALL CREDIT TO ELLIOT HE WAS A BRAVE FIGHTER AND ALUN'S COOL DISPLAY WAS A TESTAMENT TO HIS TRAINING POWER AND SKILL.

MASTER SKENS DINNER SHOW

Lee POWER with the help of Nigel DUNN  (and Frank) lol took DANIEL BROOKS 84KG to fight on Master SKENS Dinner Show at the Acton Court Hotel Stockport on the 27th October 2006.

Daniel had a tremendous fight after a long day travelling and was the last fight of the night. However after 3 hard fought rounds and a close fight Daniel unfortunately didnt get the nod from the Judges.

It was a massive experience and we were well looked after with a Thai meal, Hotel accomodation and the show ran like clockwork; a real credit to Master Sken and his team and also a real honour for Eagles Thai Boxing Wales to be invited to fight on such a prestigous event.

Daniel is in hard training for his next fight in December.

Excellent fights at Master Skens Interclub 15th October 2006

Kru Lee Power and Dave Tolcher-James took a coach of fighters and spectators to Manchester on Sunday 15th October 2006 to Master Skens Academy.  The fighters consisted of members of Cardiff and Rhondda Eagles with some excellent displays of Muay Thai.

JULIAN SOUTHWAY (RHONDDA) fought twice having a 2 round fight against his first opponent from FRANKS GYM with both guys showing skill and power in an evenly matched contest. JULIAN then fought a Thai and after dominating most of the first round with strong knees and punches Julian got caught with a head kick and was down for a count, JULIAN soldiered on with clinching and knees and continued on till the bell. the Second round was much the same as the 1st with strong attacks from Julian being countered by his opponent who was vastly more experienced. it was a good fight with all credit going to Julian who took it in his stride and fought 2 fights one after the other.

NIGEL DUNN (Rhondda and Cardiff) fought an excellent fight against his opponent who had fought on 3 previous bouts. Nigel in only his first outing showed some excellent skills with strong fast punching and excellent knees in the clinch, dominating his opponent. Nigel fought well and showed some silky skills also with a leg kick followed by a flying punch. An excellent fight at the last minute as he only decided he was going to fight 2 days before.

ALUN HASKINS (Rhondda) fought on one of the best fights of the day, with an excellent display of cool, calm, powerful Muay Thai skills. Alun dominated his opponent from the first bell, not rushing in and remaining focussed listening to Lee's instructions. Alun's display impressed the world famous Master Sken so much that he was invited to fight on Master Skens next big professional promotion in February 2007. This is a great honour for Alan and for Eagles Thai Boxing Wales as our Gyms in Rhondda and Cardiff have only been running since May 2006.

JUSTIN HUSSAIN (Cardiff) fought another hard fought contest and Justin showed some excellent kicking and punching skills again dominating his opponent. JUSTIN out powered his opponent with some excellent roundhouse kicks to the body that made his opponent wince each time. JUSTIN was also very strong in the clinch using strong knees and turns to dominate this bout.

KEVIN SKYRME (Cardiff) had a hard fight against a much younger and more experienced opponent. Kevin who is 46 years old fought hard and used some strong punching and kicking techniques. Kevin got countered with a head kick on a number of occasions that rocked him but he still fought on showing true Eagles fighting spirit. All credit goes out to Kevin for fighting a younger, fitter and more experienced opponent and matching him for skill and power.

JOEY BRINCAT (Cardiff) had a real tear up against his opponent, with both fighters going at it from the first bell, some excellent skills were shown in a great display of Thai Boxing over 3 fast paced rounds. Joe however proved too fast and powerful for his opponent even throwing a left leg high roundhouse to the head. In the final round Joe totally dominated with strong leg kicks and punching combinations that caused massive damage to his opponents thighs who was limping badly towards the end of the round. It was an excellent fight with Joe showing great respect by handing his opponent the trophy at the end.

DANIEL BROOKS  (Rhondda Eagles) fought MEIRION HUGHES (Cardiff Eagles) in what was supposed to be a demonstration bout.Unfortunately there were no fighters at the correct weight for these guys so they had to compete against each other. It was a good display with some silky skills being shown by Daniel and good powerful tecnique by Meirion. Both guys gave a good account of themselves with Daniel being invited to fight on Master Skens Novice Show in 2 weeks time.

SIMON EVANS (Rhondda) had a very good fight against a much older opponent, Simon who is just 17 years old fought a more mature and strong looking guy. Simon threw such powerful techniques that his opponent was a bit shy coming forward due to the power and ferocity of the kicks. Simon showed maturity and skill above his years, again dominating his opponent with good kicking and punching techniques.

It was a long hard day for the Eagles fighters leaving Cardiff at 7 am to travel to Manchester. Each fighter was a credit to themselves and to the club and we were complimented by Master Sken who said -"All credit to you, you have good students. You are always welcome". This is a great honour and we shall remember the compliment of Master Sken and strive to improve on our skills and present more fighters for the next competition.

From both Kru Lee and Ajarn Peter Stewart well done to all who fought on a great performance.

Thanks too go out to Dave Tolcher-James who has been with us for a number of years and has always remained a friend through bad times etc. Dave helped out in the corners together with Josh and took some of the pressure off Lee who was quite ill. Respect to Dave, thanks mate !

K STAR INTERCLUB BIRMINGHAM

MIXED SUCCESS FOR EAGLES FIGHTERS

Junior competitors Keiron Farriday and Jake Griffiths both retired in the 1st Round of their contests , Jake aged 8 became very upset after accidentally being hit to the face a couple of times by his opponent in a non head contact bout. Keiron aged 7 years was without his Mum for this fight and after an excellent fight 2 weeks previous on a Pro Show in Cardiff, Keiron did not rise to the occasion in this his 2nd outing retiring after taking a heavy body shot which knocked out his wind.

George Wintle had a hard fought contest and after several warnings for head shots by referee Steve Logan, George and his opponent from K STAR settled into a kicking only contest which proved to be hard fought by these boys. A good fight was in the making and these 2 should meet again under head shot rules.

Caroline Thomas (Barry Eagles) and Courtenay Taylor (Barry Eagles) had to settle for a demonstration bout  between each other and both girls showed a high degree of skill and movement in this fast paced demo. It was an even demonstration as Courtenay aged 11 years weighs 62 kilos and Caroline 26 yrs weighs 50 kg, both girls deserve credit for travelling all that way and being let down with no opponent and then agrreing to demo against each other.

Laruen Mills (Barry) had a very hard Demo against her opponent from K STAR who had already bee entered into 2 hard bouts, the girls showed some good skills and some powerfuls hsots were exchanged. it should be noted that Lauren is only 14 and her opponent was 24 and all credit to Lauren to accepting the challenge against a heavier and older girl.
